In the south of Buenos Aires province, Argentina, expectations are running high and the excitement to celebrate is palpable. The first container of locally produced potatoes from Lamb Weston will soon depart from the port of Mar del Plata bound for Brazil.

Last March, the official presentation was held with the presence of company authorities, local officials, and suppliers, who took part in a tour of the facilities that required an estimated investment of more than USD 300 million.

The Secretary of Local Development, Investments, and Public-Private Integration, Fernando Muro, was the one who anticipated this news as a great achievement for everything it meant to have this multinational choose this location to establish itself and build a model facility, with the certainty of shipping its production by sea from the Mar del Plata terminal.

Fernando Muro, Secretary of Local Development, Investments, and Public-Private Integration:

"Great news for Mar del Plata and the region. After 6 years of management work together with Mayor Montenegro, supporting the private sector and removing obstacles, tomorrow the first container of locally produced potatoes from Lamb Weston will leave our port for Brazil."

"It doesn’t happen overnight. The city of yes is not negotiated, it is defended."
