The Michigan Winter Potato Conference 2026 will take place from January 27 to 29, 2026, at the Sheraton Grand Rapids Airport Hotel, located at 5700 28th Street SE, Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA. Organized by the Michigan Potato Industry Commission (MPIC), this premier annual event serves as the most important gathering for professionals in the Michigan and U.S. potato industry, uniting growers, suppliers, researchers, and agribusiness representatives under one roof to discuss innovations, challenges, and opportunities shaping the future of potato production.

The three-day conference will feature a well-structured agenda that combines technical sessions, industry meetings, and networking events. The opening day, January 27, begins with exhibitor setup and registration, followed by a lively opening reception and the popular Michigan Potato Legacy Fund Comedy Show Fundraiser, an evening designed to support the state’s potato research and development initiatives while promoting fellowship among participants. The following days, January 28 and 29, will be dedicated to a rich program of general sessions, breakout seminars, and exhibitor showcases focusing on various aspects of potato farming, marketing, and technology.

Throughout the conference, participants will engage in specialized discussions covering crop production practices, pest and disease management, irrigation efficiency, plant nutrition, soil health, sustainable farming, post-harvest storage, and new market opportunities. In addition, experts from research institutions and agricultural organizations will present findings on emerging technologies, climate adaptation strategies, and future innovations aimed at enhancing yield and quality in potato cultivation. Exhibitors from across the country will also showcase their latest products, machinery, and services, offering attendees access to cutting-edge agricultural solutions.

The conference includes sessions hosted by the Michigan Potato Industry Commission (MPIC) and the Potato Growers of Michigan, Inc. (PGMI), where key updates, policy discussions, and industry recognitions will take place. A dedicated awards luncheon will celebrate outstanding contributions within the potato industry, while structured networking breaks and exhibitor visits will ensure meaningful engagement between participants and businesses. Attendees can also earn Restricted Use Pesticide (RUP) credits by attending approved sessions, supporting their professional certification requirements.

The final day will feature the PGMI Annual Meeting, followed by technical sessions and a concluding general assembly focused on research outcomes, industry partnerships, and future strategies for Michigan’s potato sector. The event’s atmosphere combines professionalism with community spirit, reinforcing Michigan’s leadership in U.S. potato production and innovation.
