Royal Avebe has officially acquired Solan, a leading producer of potato flakes and granules. The takeover agreement was signed on Monday, 18 August, marking a significant milestone in Avebe’s growth and diversification strategy.

Expansion of product portfolio with flakes and granules

"With Solan, we are accelerating access to knowledge and experience in processing potatoes into flakes and granules and selling these. We can expand our product portfolio and thus further shape Avebe's growth."

Strengthen and Accelerate

Strategy Avebe's decision to enter the flake and granulate market stems from the Strengthen and Accelerate strategy.

David Fousert:

"We are excited to welcome Solan's proven technology, existing customers and experienced team to Avebe."

Diversification of product portfolio

Flake potatoes have gained ground in the potato market in recent years. By adding flakes and granules to the product portfolio, Avebe is fulfilling a growing global demand from its customers for a broader and more integrated potato-based range. The trusted brand will continue to exist under the name SOLAN® under the Avebe umbrella.

David Fousert:

"Customers can count on one total supplier and get access to a more complete portfolio of potato solutions. Of course with the quality, service and support from Avebe as they are used to from us. Moreover, this acquisition – with our technical expertise and our global network – offers opportunities to further innovate within a more complete range of potato products."

Leading regional employer

Solan has a production site in Głowno, Poland. There are two production lines: a flake line and a granulate line. With over 100 employees, Solan is a leading regional employer. With the acquisition, Avebe owns 100% of Solan.

Further development of potato cultivation

Solan works closely with around 140 arable farmers and also has a regional network for its raw material supply. Avebe sees good opportunities to further develop potato cultivation in the region. For breeding company Averis, a 100% subsidiary of Avebe, there is potential with the variety package.
