The Dirt Screening Drum (DSD) is designed for the separation of dry soil from root crops. The root crops to be processed, still covered with dried earth, can be fed into the machine using a conveyor belt and/or a chute.
Through the rotational movement and the rubbing together of the root crops, the dried earth breaks up and shakes off from the root crops. Once separated, the earth falls downwards through the gaps between the cables to a designated and secured area below the machine.
Key Features:
- Consists of a drum and a base frame with drive units (gear motor, bearings, track rollers).
- Set up with an inclination drop in the direction of flow to ensure onward movement of the root crops.
- Root crops are typically fed into the machine by a conveyor belt provided by the operating company.
- PU-coated cables form a vibrating sieve, ensuring that shaken-off clods of earth fall downwards out of the machine.
- Vibration prevents the cable sieve from becoming clogged.
- The operating company is responsible for providing apparatus to feed the root crops into the downstream process chain.
