The Fédération Nationale des Producteurs de Plants de Pommes de Terre (FN3PT) is the national federation that represents French seed potato growers. Established in 1932 (originally under the acronym FNPPPT), it brings together regional producer organizations to ensure the development, certification, and promotion of high-quality seed potatoes in France. FN3PT works closely with public authorities and industry partners to safeguard the standards of French seed potatoes, which are internationally recognized for their quality and traceability.
The federation coordinates three major regional organizations: Comité Nord, Bretagne-Plants, and Comité Centre et Sud, covering the main potato-producing areas in France. It manages certification systems, provides technical support, and represents growers’ interests at national and European levels. By uniting these regional groups, FN3PT ensures consistency in production practices, disease control, and varietal innovation across the country.
Beyond production, FN3PT is strongly engaged in research and development, particularly through its technical institute, ARVALIS–Institut du Végétal, and partnerships with scientific institutions. This commitment allows the federation to adapt to evolving market demands, environmental challenges, and global trade opportunities, maintaining France’s leading role in the international seed potato industry.
